VROC Settings Question....

by bertr » Tue, 11 Mar 2003 09:52:04

Sometimes when racing VROC online, I find that my wheel feels very
different from its feel when racing offline.  I double-check checked
that I'm running the car set-up that I want to run, but the "feel" is
different.  So, the only explanantion I can come up with is  that
something is wrong within my VROC settings.

When joining a race in VROC -- and you're presented with the pop-up with
5 tabs asking you for a password, etc -- under the Force Feedback tab,
should I or should I NOT have the "Override Force Feedback Settings" box
checked?  If the answer is YES, I assume that I need to have the values
for Latency, Damping, and Max Torque match what's in my core.ini file,
right?  (Assuming that I want the wheel's "feel" to match it's feel when
running offline......)

Thanks,
Bert

Do you have a "profile" set up for GPL.exe?  I think you need to have the
profile enabled (or a copy of it) for GPLlauncher.exe.

If it's a Logitech wheel, like mine, it's important that you don't click on
some other application during the load of GPL. If GPL looses focus, the
profiler unloads the profile for the wheel, giving you default settings
instead.
The same thing sometimes occur when a popup pops up, or when windows
mediaplayer in "toolbar mode" displays the songtitle for an example.

Are you referring to a profile in the Logitech profiler?  If so, Yes I do.
Although I've never gotten it to work with GPLLaunch.  I point it at
WinVROC.exe.  For some reason, I can't get it to "keep" when editing the
profile.......

Here's a possible work-around, but it may be inconvenient for you:

Make a profile for GPL, make it active, then enable the option for "Apply
Persistent Profile".  That way that one profile is active at all times.  Of
course, if you change games, you'll have to go back there and change the
profile to the game you are about to play manually.
