GPL steering twitch with FF

GPL steering twitch with FF

I have a Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP. The steering wheel will twitch
to the left or right every now and then. It almost always happens at the
very end of the Glen's front straight. The twitch is lightning quick, just
one or two frames in the replay. But it's *** enough to cause a swerve
(a bad thing at the end of that straight). Doesn't matter how steady I hold
the wheel. I've tinkered with most of the FF settings in core.ini and the
Windows FF controller properties, with no success.

I have two machines: a P4 with Windows Me and a dual P3 running Windows
2000. It does it on both machines.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Same here, two totally different machines, LWFF USB.  I'll get it in GP3 and
F12K as well.  The only common thing between my two machines is the SBLive
sound card.  I've disabled the gameport but it still happens.

FWIW, I used to see it with a different wheel too, so it's not the LWFF.
I've just adjusted my FF settings and live with it now.

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                 ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping = 40.000000       ; force feedback damping
coefficient
force_feedback_latency = 0.00        ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 400.000000         ; steering torque in N*in giving
max device force

Same story here :-(

I also have the Wingman FF GP and have the same problems.

Tried different drivers for the wheel, the chipset, the videocard etc.
etc.
Tried removing all addoncards except the videocard (Asus V7100 Geforce
2MX).
Tried another FF GP.
Tried reinstalling everything including Windows.

Nothing helped, but I seems to me (I'm not sure) that the problem was
worse with my old Asus A7Pro mobo - I now have a A7V and the two
boards are basicly the same, but my A7V is of a newer revision.

Set the camber for right and left front wheels as close together as possible
and try it. Twitch should go away.

As somebody already mentioned, it could be the camber setting.

On the other hand your steering pot could be worn/damaged.

Not with the optical stuf inside my MSFF - and I get this.

I also get it banging me down a gear, or looking left or right quickly

Hi. I got this too when I first got my LWFF. I changed the
force_feedback_damping = 1200.000000 (default value) on core.ini to nearly 0,
and it went away. Try it and see.
