F1 2000 tyre ware

How do I manage to make a set of tyres last more than 8 laps ?

I've been using the hard compound at Australia and they seem
to go off very quickly. I don't think it's my driving style but could
be ..

I thought you had to choose a tyre  compound at the beginning
of a race meeting  in F1 and stick to it. - Pick and stick. In F1 2000
it seems you can change at any stage through the race weekend -
strange.

I seem to have a problem with some cars displaying no front wheels,
this seems to be random, could it be a lack of memory ? Only got 64
meg :(  Anyone else with this problem ?

regards, Tony

Typically it's driving style, but a bad setup can do that, too. The
fastest setup in the race should be different from the one for
qualifying. The qualifying setup is usually a bit more loose, nervous,
and tends to wear out the rears quickly. Use a bit less front wing on
races, and lower that differential lock (I have mine on 0 for races).
Try driving just below the tyre chirp. All this should contribute to the
longevity of the tyres. Your laptimes will be lower than in qualifying,
but that's life.
