Microsoft Sidewinder wheel VS WinXP

Microsoft Sidewinder wheel VS WinXP

Hi all,
I started asking round my league about anyone having experience with the
Windows XP and Nascar 4, whether they are having any framerate problems.
Well as it turns out the consensus is no!  But !!!!!!   Turns out very FEW
of us in the league, use a Microsoft Sidewinder racing controller,
especially the non Force Feedback ones?  let alone the Windows XP.  In fact
only one other person replied that did both (sigh).

He said he had to remove XP because the sidewinder would not operate in
Separate Pedals mode after upgrading to XP.  Well, now I need to ask the
majority of gamers...  Has anyone got this to work or not?

and thanks.

Works fine here.  You just need to install the Sidewinder 4.0 software that
came with the wheel and you'll be able to set the pedals to separate in the
Game Controllers control panel (note that Windows will complain at the
beginning of the Sidewinder install, but go ahead and install it anyway).

Same here. Just ignore the Windows messages and you're fine.

Hey,

Thanks guys, I guess I will be trying it this weekend...  But for
clarity, did you guys do fresh install of XP, or remove the wheel before
upgrading or any other trick that I am willing to do, yet unaware of?

Thanks for the good news!!!

Fresh install myself. No problems at all with the wheel or software, I was
somewhat surprised to see that people were having problems.

Yes, as long as it's the USB version, it should work.

The SideWinder 4 software _will_ complain that it may not be compatible, but
as far as I could ever tell it worked fine.

I've done both fresh install and upgrade from Win2k, and my non-FF USB
Sidewinder Wheel worked fine with the 4.0 Sidewinder software. GPL and N4
also work just as they did in Win2k.

Same here - Sidewinder USB comes with the 4.0 software. Separate pedals
works fine.
