I wasn't able to get SCGT to recognize the paddles either so I set up a
couple of keys for shifting and then used the Sidewinder software to assign
those key strokes to the paddles.  Works just fine.

Set up a profile with the Sidewinder software so the paddles send the
shifting keystrokes. Works flawlessly for me.

Don't buy ABS for your cars. It makes it much more realistic. And, of
course, make sure you are using the Advanced Options software to select
realistic physics. Believe me, you will then be very concerned with brake
lockup.

You have to map to keys (like Q&W) to the paddles using the sidewinder
software by creating a profile. Then go into SCGT and set the upshift to Q
and the downshift to W. Works like a charm.

Thanks guys! I knew I could rely on you to explain something simple to
me... if I'd only thought about it for a while! Thanks again.
