You can download them direct from the Creative site at
http://www.soundblaster.com/support/winxp/

I have downloaded and installed them and they seem to sort out the dodgy
sound in GPL.

Phil, yup, they have *definitely* helped the crackling sound on my
system as well.  Looks like they did a good job with the initial
drivers, hopefully further revisions will be even better.

Keep the shiney side up and the *** side down!

Are these newer than the 2601.0 version you get from the windows update
site???

Forget those, the Creative drivers really work!  The updated MS ones didn't
help the GPL problem at all.

OK. This is driving me buggy. I frequently see posts like this that start
with "OT:" in the header. What on earth does "OT" stand for. Where I come
from it's, "Off Topic." If this post is off topic, then what is this group
here for?

OT = Off topic.  people who are squeezed for time or have no interest in
things not releated to sim-racing can filter all the messages that begin
with OT.  And...if it is something like a race result...those who haven't
seen it yet can also avoid the thread.  It is more of a courtesy to let
folks know we are going off on a tangent that really has no releation to
RAS...

How is a cure for audio problems not related to sim racing?

Not being the originator of the thread I can only assume.  Since his
subject line and post are strictly hardware/os releated, they technically
don't apply to RAS's topics.
However I agree wholeheartedly with you, many technical subjects need to
be discussed here to get better performance from sims.  Also, discussing
real world racing allows us to compare the sims to the real thing.  There
are lots of subjects that could be OT, but they do have great import in Sim
Racing.
