TOCA Race Driver crashes Win XP

Race Driver restarts my pc after accepting the first race in career mode. It
even happens when I start a single race. Any ideas why this happens? After
restarting the pc (it has to be done manually) it does a scandisk.

I have an Athlon 2400, Geforce 4MX 640, Win XP private edition, 756 MB RAM

Retail version??  The warez version had this problem, it's since been
fixed and re-released.

it's retail. well i solved the crashing with help of this ng: i have an
ac97-sound-card (onboard). updated the driver from the via-page, no it runs
without problem. anyway, the steering really sucks.
