GPL on Win2000 Help

by myer.. » Sun, 08 Jul 2001 22:38:23

I just built a new PC and decided to give Win2000 a try. The PC specs
are as follows:

Processor:  800Mhz Celeron
MBoard:  ASUS CUV4X-E (VIA chipset)
Graphics: 3DFX Voodoo 4 (latest drivers from 3DFX)
OS: Win2000 Pro (Service Pack 2)

My GPL is at the 1.2 level with the Disco and D3D patches installed.
When I start GPL using the the 3DFX dll I see the GPL flash screen and
then the PC locks up before it displays the main GPL window.  I have
seens posts where it would kick back to the desktop, so this suprised
me. When I start GPL using the D3D dll it comes up ok. However, when I
enter the car, the graphics are messed up.

I used the same graphics card on my prevoius Win98 without problem and
I have everything working on the new PC except GPL. Any help would be
appreciated!

Why does he need Glideomatic ? Other people here seem to run on Win2k
without it - especially in D3D mode

Because with a Voodoo 4 card the best performance is obtained using glide.
Windows 2000 needs the glide patch to work.

The Glide Patch-O-Matic did the trick.  Thank you very much for the
tip!
