Logitech FF Wheel - No Paddles??

by netnews.comcast.ne » Tue, 10 Feb 2004 07:36:45

Downloaded the latest Logitech drivers and now cannot activate the paddle
shifters in N2003 or GPL.  Wheel, throttle and brake all work fine but
cannot for the life of me figure out to configure the paddles for up/down
shifting.  What in blazes am I missing?  It worked fine prior to downloading
the 4.3 drivers.

Did you use the clear calibration routine to clean out the old
windows calibration?
http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/gadgets.htm
After using it, unplug your wheel and
plug it back in.  Then test and calibrate in the windows control
panel before launching nr2k3/gpl.  Calibrate and then assign.
Let me know if that helps.

Thanks Dave.  Tried that.  It says it doesn't detect any settings and
assumes they're probably already removed.  Competely deinstalled/reinstalled
Logitech software and drivers and now the throttle and brake are gone also.
Event though XP detects the device and the Logitech profiler checks out OK.
I'm stumped.

Ok next question...It's a shame I don't think of these all at once.
:)
Do you have any other controllers plugged in.  If so remove all of
them from the box and make sure they are removed from the windows
control panel.  Only after all devices are cleared from windows, then
install the new logi drivers.
Just a guess...

Here is a page from the Logitech site that has some troubleshooting
links, a couple of the are specifically for XP users.  Maybe these will
help.

Logitech FF Wheel - No Paddles??

Just woke up, 5am, and the first thing that popped into me head was...
there is a file called controls.cfg in nr2k3.  (and most likely gpl as
well, just don't have it installed right now to verify.
(this is an old ICR2 trick, it 'should' work.)

The file is in your players\your name folder.  Either move it out of the
folder to a safe spot or rename it to something like controls.GFC and then
fire up the sim.  Nr2k3 "SHOULD" notice the file is missing and prompt you
immeadiately to calibrate your controllers.  Doing that calibration and
clicking done should create a new controls.cfg file.

Thanks Dave.  Removing the controls.cfg file did the trick.  Its amazing the
things
you think about at 5 a.m.!  Thanks for working this out.  I'm back at it.
