Upgrade to the ActLabs FF wheel. You'll be glad you did.

well Todd that would be a great idea...if I hadnt JUST BOUGHT THIS WHEEL :-)
(plus Im not a big FF fan)
I had a ProDigital that I gave my son thinking my ActLAbs wheel was the
answer......and it will be IF the new ActLabs pedals ever ship!! Its just
that I would like to do modern F1...and being in the good ole USofA
...F1/2001 is about my only hope....but as I said if it wont turn...it wont
be much fun!!
Thanks anyway

Greg31 -

I hear ya!   $$ is a consideration.  I made this statement after having
own(ed) both ActLabs wheels. For me the FF wheel is much better, even if I
turn the FF off.  It is much smother (doesn't run on those bungee cord
things) and it calibrates by simply steering the wheel when you are on the
desktop (the computer desktop!!).  Anyway, I think it is worth the $$ to
upgrade.  I'm done - I sound like a damn adverti***t.

Guys..I have a few wheels here..problem with my ACT labs force rs is that I
can't get that darn software to work smoothly. I prefer to plug it into a
serial port but i kept on getting conflicts. Then with USB the drivers load
funny. Tried 123 drivers and the new pre June 2001 ones?

any advice?

Dave

David, I wish I could help you directly. I recommend emailing ACT labs. They
have always been extremely helpful to me when I had problems with my first
ACT labs wheel. Have you tried this route?

Is anyone driving F1-2001 with an ActLab RS (NFFB) wheel........?

by Greg3 » Mon, 15 Oct 2001 13:26:44

Well since I started this little post I will say...I contacted ActLabs
regarding the original problem with my NonFFB wheel (RS) not working with
F1/2000CS....their email reply was to "get the game patch" ...of which I
havent seen anywhere, addressing controller issues anyway....I have their
latest drivers etc...still no luck...and F1/2000CS is the ONLY game that
wont work with this wheel!!! (you see I wanted to try F1/2001 but not if I
cant turn:)
Its odd that I saw a thread earlier this week burning on Guillemot...(was
Thrustmaster)...they were always MORE than helpful, though it was with other
issues, I wish I could say the same for ActLabs concern, not to mention the
LONG delay in getting the clutch system to replace the less than adequate
pedals they ship with their wheels...and the lack of dual axis on them as
well.  Ok my rant is over...just my experience...your mileage may vary   :)
