Interesting this - I had the same problem with both Nascar and Indycar. I
posted numerous messages on Compuserve, both with Papyrus, thinking it was
a bug in the programme, and Matrox, my video card manufacturer, thinking there
was an incompatability problem with the DOS4GW programme and the video BIOS.
Many many weeks later and corresponding with other users with the same
problem which hadn't been solved, I gave up.
Shortly after I 'upgraded' to OS/2 Warp. And guess what - the problems went
away. Both games run fine ina full dos window. No more aborts and there's no
speed problems.
Would suggest however that you try to 'borrow' a copy of OS/2 Warp first to
see if that works. It's a bit expensive just to cure a games problem and
Windows programs definitely run slower.
