ICR2 v1.0.1 DOS patch

by G. Warren Ab » Thu, 11 Jul 1996 04:00:00

Okay, it's been several weeks since the Win95/DOS v1.0.1/Mac versions of ICR2
have been released in stores.  When do us suckers that bought a buggy DOS v1.0
ICR2 last *NOVEMBER* FINALLY get the patch to upgrade to DOS v1.0.1?

*sigh*...

ICR2 v1.0.1 DOS patch

I'm beginning to think "QA" (quality control) has held the patch back
because they discovered that the yellow flag bug was still there. THis
is suggested, after all, by what people who went out and bought the
new CD are saying in postings here- that the yellow flag bug is still
there!

Imagine putting the eventual patch in, and noticing right away that
the "over rev" light still doesn't work... would you be surprised?

What happened to Papyrus? Was it Sierra?

: What happened to Papyrus? Was it Sierra?

Nothing has changed at all...

Nov 93 - Indycar Racing: Released with bugs.
May 94 - 7 Track Pack: Released with obvious bugs.
May 94 - Indy Track Pack: Released with obvious bugs as above.
Nov 94 - NASCAR Racing: Released with known bugs, again.
NASCAR Track Pack: Could this be the only time they shipped a finished
product? I'm not sure, I waited until Dec 95...
Nov 95 - ICR2: Again, released with known bugs. Only difference now is
Papyrus hasn't bothered to write patches (single patch for a
         minor paintkit bug was released)
November 96? - NASCAR2 & NRL: Looks like Halloween might come late this
         year...

        I downloaded the new indycar.exe, main.dat, rol.dat, and
effects.dat off the web and upgraded IndyCar2 to the new (?) version.
The only differences I've noticed are the over-rev light now works (well,
actually it's the "low-fuel" light that now comes on after redline), and
there's a frame-per-second display on the bottom left of the dash.  I
also noticed that you "go through" other cars less now.  That's about it.

Where did you find it?  Thanks.

I have been playing V1.0.1 for the past 3 nights. I have not seen the
yellow flag problem and the over rev light works just fine.

I could not wait any longer for the patch so I talked a buddy into
buying it. Of course I volunteered to pick it up for him so I could
install it on my system. The DOS versions seems to work just fine. The
WIN95 version is a total waste of time. I hope Papyrus didn't spend too
much time on it!

Yeah, I heard a few people on r.a.s. say that v1.0.1 still has the yellow flag
bug at Cleveland.

Well, I've heard that the rev light does work correctly now.  Also there
haven't been any complaints of the Naz traction bug.

Judging by the recent Sierra game releases, I'm guessing it's Sierra.

If this did not come from the patch.... then you don't have the whole fix.
The patch is done. I've got it... and many others do to...
