Viper V550 advice TOCA2

Can somebody suggest a fix for the following.
Running TOCA2. Celeron 300A 64Meg Viper V550 & Diamond Monster II 12 Meg
SBLive soundcard. WIN98

When running this on the Monster II using Glide latest reference drivers it
runs OK in 800x600
I do find the graphics sharper however & can get to 1024x768 & 32bit colour
when using the Viper card.  The bug though is that it takes an annoyingly
long time to load the game & go thru the menus. Upto 1 minute just to load
the game.

I assume it is something to do with D3D loading into cache (??)

Anybody know or understand what is going on here and how to speed it up?

Thanks for any feedback in advance.

My experience is that full install cuts loading time by half over typical
(minimal ?) install which I did before.

Thanks for that.

I did/do a full install but still takes a long time when trying to run TOCA2
on my Viper Card.
