GPL on Diamond Viper V550

I tried out the 2nd beta GPL OpenGL rasteriser on a Diamond Viper V550
AGP video card. That has the nVidia TNT chipset and a storming 16Mb of
RAM onboard.

1. GPL won't even start up on Win95, GPFing instead.
2. It starts and runs very well on Win98 however.

Both machines have DX6 installed and these were very fresh installs of
the OS in both cases.

3. Whilst it works in Win98 (with the mirror refresh setting at 3),
you cannot select any resolution other than 640x480 without it GPFing
again.

Are there any known workarounds for these problems?

Stuart

I couldn't get GPL to run at more than 640*480 on my Creative Labs TNT
AGP, Soyo 5-EMA Super 7 motherboard. Being unhappy with the performance
from the AMD K6-266, I upgraded to a Celeron 300A on an Abit BH6 and
overclocked to 450MHz. Now, I can select 1024*768 and it works fantastic.
The only change was the motherboard and CPU. My impression from GPL and
other applications is that the Super 7 implementations do not work
properly with AGP. You didn't say what system you have, if it is Socket 7
based you will have to wait and hope that patches (BIOS?) come along to
fix the problem. Otherwise, try the nvidia reference drivers release 0.48
which is what I use.

Keith.
