Running Nascar2 in DOS?

I have been running N2 out of win 95.  I have been hearing that I can
increase performance if I run out of DOS.  When I leave Win95 and restart
in DOS, it says mouse driver not loaded?  Any one suggest anything.

Also, I am running N2 on a Pentium 75 with 24MB ram.  Would a Screemin 3D
help with smothing out game play.  Typically I run with only car detail
and paint/skid marks on to maximize smoothness.  Any suggestions would be
appreciated.

Uh, load your mouse driver? Look for a file probably called mouse.com.
Your question indicates that your system is probably badly configured
for DOS games. You'll need to load all kinds of drivers, sound card,
network card, etc. to get a fully functioning system.

Yes, a Rendition-based card (of which the Screamin' 3D is only one)
would help N2 tremendously.

Definately your mouse drive for DOS is not loaded. It needs to
be loaded from the DOSSTART.BAT file in the Windows directory.
If you need and DOS mouse driver I have plenty of universal
ones I could send you and a note on how to get it to load each
time you shut down into MSDOS mode.

I don't know if you will get much of a performance increase
for DOS though.

I personally run all my DOS programs from DOS because I think
using Windows for games is like driving 600 Horsepower
Kenworth to the corner store for icecream. I'm a die-hard
DOSer.

I run it out of a dos window in windows 95 and have not had any
problems. I had to uninstall the whole thing first though. After you
do that start a dos win and go to your cd-rom drive in it  ex : mine
is D drive   D:\ : then type install and it will do the rest. then you
can go to your nascar2 Dir in the hard drive and just click on the N2
thing. This will run in Windows but I have much better performance

questions.

1. Yes, I run in dos mode and it is smoother.

2. Make a shortcut and have it load your mouse driver.

3. I have a Intense 3d and when I run it in renddma mode the game flies
with all detail...

I also have a Pentium 75 w/24MB Ram.  I just installed another 32MB of
Ram (Ram is CHEAP compaired to what it was just a year ago) and a
Screamin 3D Video Card.

All I can say is WOW!!!  This has tremendously improved N2 peformance.
Don't forget the Screamin 3D card comes with the Rendition version of
ICR2, a nice bonus.  :-}

My next upgrade will be a 200mmx CPU, I can't wait.

Don't forget to add a new MB to the list, as you'll most likely need one.
