The only thing I can say is "experience". laps, laps, and more laps.
doing anything short of this is not going to matter much. Granted,
setting a car up for short runs versus long ones makes a difference.
And only after running 45 laps with an 80 lap pit window and having
your tires melt away, are you gonna realize your setup is out of
there.
that's not just beginners, that's anyone, including you and I both.
no, that's not a learn to be better drivers, that's just experience in
knowing how to do something. The more you mess with *anything* the
better you will get at it. Granted, some people are naturals at some
things, but not the majority.
