NASCAR 2 multiplayer bug?

NASCAR 2 multiplayer bug?

by Wallace B » Mon, 16 Dec 1996 04:00:00

Has anyone else had this problem with NASCAR 2's
modem multiplayer feature:  The two machines connect
and the game server (the answerer) picks a track.
Practice and qualify sessions work fine.  Then,
when the race starts the game client (the caller)
gets put in the wrong place in the starting grid
with another car right on top of it!  This is a
real bummer when you have damage turned on 'cause
your car is pretty much totalled and you haven't
even run a lap!

Also, the game client occasionally just locks up
during the race.  On a Cyrix machine, this always
seems to happen just seconds after the green flag
drops but a Pentium machine can keep going for 20
or so laps before it falls prey to the same bug.
Any other multiplayer people out there experiencing
weirdage like this?

I had this problem the other day at Atlanta, Qualified first, My
friend second.  I was calling, and when we gridded for pace lap I was
in mid thirties, and a car was on top of me.  Did not have damaged
turned on, but I was pretty confused and managed to wreck 5 or 6 cars
around me.  My friend was placed first on grid. He exited out of race
and back in, we re qualified and everything was fine.

Ya I have had this happen as well. If you limit the number of cars to less
than 12 it seems fine.

NASCAR 2 multiplayer bug?

I have tried doing some Modem racing with NASCAR 2, I am sorry to say I
have not had that problem, but I and the other guy have experienced
problems.  Just the other night we were racing at Dover and the caller's
car ended up in the wrong position.  We were both on the same lap, (we do
know this) he was up near the pace car and I was near the back.  According
to F2 I was in front of him.

This is just one problem, We have also been racing and gone into the pits.
Also a problem with the caller, he pits, gets hit in the pits, then
continues onto the track but the pit board (F2) is still saying "pit".  He
is not getting any black flag or anything either.  This problem does fix
itself when he pits again the next time.

These and some other problems seem to exist and at this point I just would
like to know if any patch is planned for the future?
