NASCAR -- Multiplayer Problems

I've recently tried nascar over the phone w/ a friend, and our modems
would connect with no problems.  Then it appeared that the game just
hung on the modem connect screen.  THe book says there may be a delay,
but we waited almost 10 minutes and nothing happened.  Can anyone
help??

Thanx in advance...

Did it say "Waiting for Remote..."?  if it did, more than likely one
of you has an incorrect init string for your modem.  You may also
want to try lowering the baud rate you are connecting at.  I have a
28.8 US robotics modem, but could not connect at that speed.  As soon
as I lowered it, I connected with no problems.  Also you might want
to try changing which one of you is doing the dialing.  We could
never get it to work when my friend called me, but when I called him
it worked fine.  He had a generic modem, and always had trouble with
the init string.

Me and my friend had it working great. If one doesnt work dialling, try
him answering, but it should work ok both ways. Make sure that the answering
party has the com port set properly and also the baud rate should be 9600. I
even have a 28.8 but it seems to connect better at 9600. Also take of
error correction (&M0) and data compression (&K0) to work the best. I hope
this helps you a little..
