Colin McRae Rally 2.0 review

Hi guys,

We have reviewed Colin McRae Rally 2.0 today:

Maybe the physics are not always completely accurate, but it just feels like
you're 'working' a WRC in this game. It's very easy to get the tail-end out
and catching a drift also feels very nice. Moderating the throttle also has
its effect, full throttle when trying to steer away from that snow wall and
easy on the throttle mid-corner. The replays at the end of every stage
certainly make it look more spectacular. It's a real shame that there are no
controls to change cameras included. It's also not possible to save these
spectacular replays (especially some of the jumps in Australia are
fantastic). Something for an upcoming patch I'd say.

Also available are 12 new screenshots. Check out our full review at

Enjoy!

I've just read it, a very good review, but that's already taken for
granted with your site.

If you really like the Mini, you definitely need to go to one of the
tarmac stages and play with a split axis setup. In GPL you would apply
some throttle on braking to stabilize the car. Well, the Mini is a FWD
car, so the effect is exactly the opposite, and you can use the throtle
to flick the tail out under braking very neatly in CMR 2.0. As you said
in your review, this sim is just great fun!

Try using older Voodoo3 drivers (if any). This helped someone on our Colin
McRae Rally 2.0 forum who also has a Voodoo3. He had to revert back to
1.05.00 instead of the latest 1.07.00

Hope that helps.

I made the same decision as you - I'm not downgrading my system to support
CMR2. If Codemasters don't patch it to work on this (very common)
configuration then***'em.

Sure, it may be that the latest 3dfx drivers cause the problem, not CMR2,
but all other driving games work fine, so that seems unlikely.
