Non-USB pedal with USB wheel

Guys,

anyone wishing to for example connect ECCI pedals with his FF wheel but
ECCI offers no cable, or those wishing to use their TSW pedals with an
FF wheel and don't know how to connect them - I think there may now be a
solution.

I am not entirely sure, but check this out:

The guy offers a USB box which I think should enable you to connect
non-USB devices via the USB bus. I.e. you could combine any pedals with
any wheel, as far as I understand.

Apologies if I've misunderstood this.

Achim,

I've perused the Website and I don't quite understand: is this a device that
connects non-USB controllers (like wheels or pedals) to the USB port *via a
game-port D-sub connector* or do you have to wire it yerself (I couldn't
tell from the foto).

I think you would have to wire it yourself as the gameport measures the pots
resistance (requiring 2 wires per pot) and any other sensible designed
controller will use the pot as a voltage devider (requiring 3 wires per
pot).
But it should be possible for the designer of the simbox to make it
compatible to gameport devices. But since it will always be best to rewire
the pots, he will probably not see the benefit of supporting the gameport
directly.

There are two threads about it at RSC:

No you didn't.
The good thing is that it's 10 bits (1024 steps) compared to 8 bits (256
steps) for most other available or previously available solutions (Act-Labs
had a box costing only $19.xx). 10 bits will be enough resolution for a
homebuilt wheel.
This thing is perfect for Redline Pedals for instance.
