Man was it an experience. I qualified in eighth place at Tally
by turn one it was reporting that I was in 12th place even though no
one had passed me. Then at about the fifth lap it reports that I am in
eighth again but that I am 45 sec behind seventh. Then it appeared as
if all the race data was wiped red letters flashed up saying something
about clock failed.
At the halfway point there is a wreck right in front of me and
I T-bone another car heard the crash and even started to prepare to
recover from the spin and head for the pits guess what? I drove
straight THROUGH the other car I mean my speed did not even decrease.
Five laps from and I had worked up to fourth and still
supposedly a lap down There is a big pileup in the trioval I go high
and avoid every one, and guess what this did for me it put me in
first. How did this happen if I was a lap down I didn't pass the
leader twice also he did not drop out because he finished second and
for two laps it reported him as 0.0 seconds behind me.
At the end people are saying good race and I am just saying

at 95% or better I normal finish 15-22nd. Which is OK because I have
only been playing two months and it is hard to find the time

What you experienced is the phenomenon known as "warp".  This is a usual
occurence in online racing.  If you look closer, you will actually see cars
in front of you 'blink'.  This is caused by timing and your CPU.  The data
your CPU receives doesn't always place the cars where they are, but where
your CPU THINKS they should be.  I've seen cars that appear to go sideways
but then straighten out and continue with no loss of speed as if nothing had
happened.  I've even saw cars do 180 degree spins in front of me, yet
milliseconds later, they're back to where they should be, back in front of
me.

This will take some getting used to.  Learn to deal with it, as it will
cause MANY a wreck in your online career.  Not just you warping into someone
else, but they will warp into you, or each other in front or back of you.

You probably already know this (in fact, it may be a requirement at
this point), but Sierra has been releasing beta patches to address
various issues, and many people report much better on-line gameplay
with the patches.  Just checked, and it looks like the 1204 patch is
out.  If ya need the link, here it is:

You can use alt-y to turn on latency reports that give a pretty good
indication of how good/bad your connection is.  With more and more
dedicated servers popping up, you're sure to find one that has a
minimum amount of warp problems for you.  Have fun!
