I am in the process of finishing up a Windows program to track Winston Cup
seasons for modem players. I have noticed that the NASCAR game does not
award points for winning the pole position and I had thought that 5 points
were awarded. I am also tracking the UNICAL bonus (is that spelled right?)
through the season but am unsure of the amount added to the pot each race.
Is it around $15000? Thanks for the help.

hmm.. not sure, I think it's 5 points for the pole. You might want to
post this on rec.autos.sports.nascar if you haven't already.

NASCAR awards 5 points for leading a lap during a race,  and 5 points for
leading the most laps during a race.  However,  no points are awarded for
winning the pole.

UNOCAL posts $7,600 dollars before the start of every race.  The amount
builds cumulatively until a driver wins the race from the pole.

Hope this helps.

There are no bonus points for sitting on the pole.  You get 5 bonus
points for leading a lap and 5 more if you lead the most laps.

The UNICAL 76 bonus is given to the driver who wins the race from
the pole and goes up $7,600 dollars each race.

Hope this helps.

The winner of a NASCAR Winston Cup race receives 175 points.  For
positions 2-6, the
points awarded are decreased by 5 for each position.  For positions 7-11,
the points
awarded are decreased by 4 for each position.  For all the remaining
positions, the
points awarded are decreased by 3 for each position.  There are also two
bonus point
possibilities:  5 bonus points to every driver leading a lap and 5 bonus
points to the
driver who leads the most laps (if there is a tie, all drivers involved in
the tie get the
5 bonus points).
Note that a race winner has to receive 180 (175+5) points since he had
to lead
at least the last lap.

There are no points awarded in NASCAR for winning the pole. Busch beer
recognizes each pole winner with a plaque and cash and a chance to compete in
the next Busch Clash ( A race held prior to the Daytona 500...sort of a warm
up). The UNOCAL bonus from UNOCAL 76 is what else.....$7600. If the pole winner should also win the race he will get this $7600, if not, the pot is carried over to the
next race where another $7600 will be added and so on.
