After joyfully downloading the newest of cars sets I have often wondered
just how the creators did their final determination of relative car
strengths. They usually are pretty close, with a few obvious favorites
possibly pressed a little bit. Sometime ago I wrote a driver editor
program (for DRIVERS2.TXT) and with the advent of more time on my hands,
during the latest degbug session, I decided to add a routine that uses
current point standings to automatically adjust the driver's relative
strengths. Using a tiny bit of statistics with current and past WC points
the routine makes the field darn close to what you see/saw in the races. A
little closer sim to what it was, and fun those who keep in touch with the
real world NASCAR. And can be updated as the seasons progress by noting
the current point standings.
If you want to try this out email me and I'll send you a copy. (it's also
pretty good as a NASCAR editor in general) Yes, it is a DOS mouse app.,
but you can make an icon for it in Win3.x if you want, and it's not speed
intensive so the DOS under WIN95 works fine. I would really like some
feed back on this as I will soon(?) be re-doing it as a windows app., and
want to improve on it [if possible!] :) when I do.
