Hey all!

I am going to by the new Guillemot/Ferrari force feedback steering wheel
this week. I have got RC2000 - but which Formula 1 racing sim has the best
handling when using a FF-steering wheel???

Hope to hear from you guys!

Best regards

The only possible answer to this question is : Grand Prix Legends, produced
by SIERRA Sports and created by Papyrus.

Yo!

Now you've done it!

You'll get ca 132+ answers stating that Grand Prix Legends (GPL) is the F1
game to buy.

They'll state that no other game comes even close to GPL. They'll say that
if you want *** realistic handling, this is the only game.

Worst of all: They are right. GPL is truly fascinating!

Soon ther will be geoff hammonds gp3 until then, i have to agree that GPL is
the best out there, but if you are searching for a modern f1 sim and i think
that, that is what you mean then you have to be a litle bit more patient.
Until then you maybe could try Monaco grand prix racing simulator 2 from ub
soft if modern f1 is what you seek. It's not a superb sim, and some will say
that gp2 is still better, but i dont know if i totaly agree on that. They
both have their weacknesses and strong points. Gp2 was superb for the time
but getting used to the extreme sensation of racing gpl i have to say that
most sims nowadays fail. I set my money on gp3 and hopes it lives up to my
expectation. But even more am i hoping for a sim of modern cart racing with
the qualities of gpl. ( ilike the cart road tracks a lot)

GPL is the best Formula 1 sim (it's based on the '67 season).
If you want current Formula 1, wait for GP3. (it's due out in March, I
believe)

Look....Papy are not THICK...

They've been stung by GPL - yes it's got people who will slit their own
wrists if people so much as mention another game in the same sentace as
GPL - but it's not a great commercial product. It needed a realism
slider...because out of all the people who've sat down in front of my
machine to play GPL...I've gone away for 30 minutes - when I get back,
they're playing TOCA 2.

It's nothing wrong with the people...

It's just that GPL is too difficult for 90%+ of the Population

With this in mind - do you really think they're going to do the same
mistake again???

Come on - they're a company - not a charity.

Someone out there must have the cash / brains etc  to work out a way to
crack open GPL totally - or to buy the GPL engine off Papy...then make a
low volume - high price sim using modern CART tracks and cars....

Sure as hell Papy aint gonna do it...

When I have some people visitiong my place who try GPL i have to pull them
away from the computer. Not because i feel threatened by their bad laptimes
but because they almost tear my precious MSFF-wheel apart due to poor clamping.

But what I haven't found out is if their enthusiasm is as great after some
hours.

[snip]

I would pay a-great-lot-of-money for a GPL based CART sim.

I hope you're wrong :)

Well, I agree with you, but from another point of view: Making less
realistic games gives them much more negative reactions! They've
overdone GPL, but the only (big) negative aspect is it's realism ! :)

So, now they got much respect!

I agree GPL is too hard, but that doesn't mean that they can't make a good
Cart sim using the GPL engine. With the AI tweaker, any one can win at GPL,
so I ask, what makes you think that just because a sim uses the GPL engine,
it has to be hard? They could make a CART sim with an adjustable AI (like
they should have done with GPL).

I don't think he meant the AI as being difficult. He meant the physics model
made driving the car difficult, which means the AI could be dumbed down to the
lowest level and he would still lose because he can't drive the car well.

You had to say it didn't you..arrrrrghhhhh!!!

RS2, A "proper" modern day F1 sim.........
Not alot of ff to boast as modern day cars are a tad smoother than ther 1967
counterparts but when you hit the karbs, that lamp on the end of your desk
goes flying!!
