crap. What do you reccomend?

There are only really two worth talking about....
Sega rally and RAC rally by Europress.
Sega rally is an "arcade" version of a rally game, not nearly as in depth
as RAC rally, it has virtually no car set-up options and only about 3
stages, (I think). And I think you only get 2 cars to choose from? And
you need a ninja pc to run it in its full glory.
RAC rally is a "simulator". You can choose from around 6 cars, it has 27
(count em) stages, and some of them are very long stages (15 minutes).
You can alter most of the cars set-ups, tyres, suspension, steering lock,
etc.
And it will run on a lower spec pc. You do have the option to run RAC
rally as an "arcade" type game also.
So you pays your money and you take you choice? Arcade or simulator?
Hope the info helps.

Thanks for the advice Peter. One other question tho': I'm sure that when I
was at Europress' web site they mentioned two games, one was "Rally
Championship" (which I've seen, along with X-Miles add-on pack), and the
other was Rally Simulation. They had some download stuff for both so I
assume two different games. Is this the case? If so, which is best?
First of all, you might want to check out http://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~b2
506046/ which has a beta of a good rally game on it...

My T2 works fine with the UK version of RAC Rally.
( And its very good too ( especially as a multiplayer game ))
I like the fact you can run a multiplayer network game with just one
CD.

I don't have access to a LAN, so unfortunately I can't play
multiplayer. I hope they add Internet support at some point.

I've checked out this game, at the shop mentioned in the http address, and
can quite honestly say that, apart from the game being good.....and
supporting all the wheels mentioned.....the excellence of the service,
support, friendliness of the staff and vast range of stock is only
surpassed by the utter brilliance of the sun at noon on a cloudless day.
I am disappointed that the old guy who used to work there has retired,
though. He was a wizard when it came to flight and racing simulations,
joysticks and wheels...an absolute marvel. Can you entice him back?

"But that was then....and this is now!"
(Guess who!)
Europress have had two rally games/sims out very close to each other, and
with similar names.
The newer Network Q RAC Rally championship, is the current one and much,
much better than the first one, which I think was called Rally Simulator?
It seems ridiculous to me that such a large company can make the mistake
of issuing two similar games with similar titles, when one of the games
is very good, and the other is crap? Not good marketing strategy IMHO?
Steer yourself clear of the former and stick to RAC Rally Championship,
the other one is not even worth a demo download?

The only time I normally take my foot off the gas is to avoid
collisions with other cars. Speaking of which, some of them really
drive like class-a jerks! I wish there was a "jerkness" setting so you
could have them not be such arseholes all the time - there have been a
few times I was dearly wishing for an Interstate-76 style machine gun
turret so I could let some of them know how I really feel about their
driving!
Joe
Yes it does support both Steering wheel and pedal set-ups as well as
joystick set-ups (ugh!!!!)
And yes, it is a SIMULATOR, although you have the option to play it as an
arcade type game also, so you get the best of both worlds?
It is by far the BEST rally type game available at the present time. (GP2
is THE best driving game IMO).
I use an F1 Sim (GP500) wheel and pedals, and it drives great.
GO OUT AND BUY IT TODAY. (The game and the wheel).

NQRACRC is no fun at all. I pulled the 19 meg demo down today and had
no fun whatsoever. True, I had to drive the Subaru instead of the
Lancia, but still, the graphics were uninspired, the play unrealistic.
I've not tried Sega Rally at all, but....
Screamer II is still my favorite. However, Network support is poor
(I've not managed to get it to stay synched in IPX, it plays fine for 20
seconds and then de-couples), and it doesn't play over KALI worth a
damn. It's been crashing more lately as well, I can't get past the
Egypt track without a drop to dos. And, as someone previously stated,
it is a bit arcadey. There is no such thing as a crash that will end a
race. However, I found the same was true of NQRAC, and it wasn't half
the fun. Get the S2 demo. Very, very fun.
