best rally game???

I was wondering what your guys' opinion of the best rally game that is
currently availible graphics and physics wise. I have a fairly old rally
game and I wouldn't mind getting something a little newer to take advantage
of my newer computer

thanks in advance

I just bought Rally Masters the other day and I am obsessed with it. It is a
great game. Physics are great, sounds are great, and graphics are superb.

Check out my RM page here:

best rally game???

I have Collin McRae 1, just bought CMR2, checked the demos of Rally masters
and Rally Chamionchip 2000 and just resently bought RC2000 as well. Removed
CMR2, installed RC2000. Why? CMR2 graphics and all are impressive but when
you check it against the real thing (Television coverage of rally sport
events) the roads are way to wide, and it does not give me the "immersion"
of RC2000, or even CMR1. All reviews you will find on the internet give CMR2
a good review only because of the good arcade and graphics and sounds, not
for realism......
So I would say go for RC2000 (I disliked the Rally Masters demo, don't know
about the real game. RM does not get hi ratings in reviews.)

best rally game???

CMR2 and Rallymasters are good fun games, the first probably having a better
pedigree.  If you want something that attempts to simulate a rally (narrow
roads, l-o-n-g stages) then the choice is easy -- Rally Championship 2000.
Steep learning curve however, and you gotta have the patch (it's only small,
no major download) to get the driving physics a whole lot better.  Very
rewarding when you finish a stage; perhaps not as much "fun" as CMR2 and RM
but it held my interest longer than the other two which I passed on to some
friends, and kept RC2000.

Sorry, in my previous post I clicked "send" before answering your question:
my next paragraph was meant to say that I actually found all three games
mentioned prev had very similar graphics, all ***y good and way better
than the original CMR; very realistic.  I've been a co-driver for 20 years
so couldn't give an accurate comment on the physics, although one of my
mates is a former state champion rally driver (still runs a Celica GT-Four)
and is saving up to buy a computer that will run RC2000 (+patch 4) properly,
he was so impressed (my old PII 400 and Voodoo 3 3000 has frame rates
dropping to 17 fps in the tricky parts of RC2000).

Hear Hear.... Colin McRae Rally 2, great fun!

RC2000/Mobil One Rally and Rally Masters rank right up there though...

But the question was best rally GAME ;-)

I still prefer CMR2 to RM or RC2000. It is great fun driving against your
friends over the net. Works really well.

Rally Masters has the best physics and numerous tracks, and is by far the most
fun. RC 2000 has great graphics and is very sim like except that the cars dont
feel as good as Rally Masters physics.
Get them both.

I hired RC2000 & din't have a lot of fun with it, I thought it was a little
bit arcade.  I stuck with CMR1.
I downloaded the CMR2 demo, played it for a few day's, I bought it today aus
$83 not cheap. Better than GP3 don't even play that anymore.
Nascar 3 & GPL are my serious drive games the others are for fun. IMHO CMR2
is fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still want to no CD patch it what a pain.

Dave S

best rally game???

by Dave S » Tue, 09 Jan 2001 01:05:57

I'm new at this rally racing--just bought a used copy of RM at EB for $8---I
think it's great FUN!!
Not sure about the physics, but the cars seem to handle what you would think
be realistic, slides, losing it over the bumps, ditch digging, etc....but at
this point, it is fun for sure.
Reading reviews, most state CMR2 graphics are a bit dated--just bit of a
bump up from the original, but not as good as RC or RM.
I have m1RC on the way, so will be able to play that soon, as well.

Look around, maybe you can afford to buy all 3 !!...like I said, picked up
RM for $8...M1RC for $10, haven't tried CMR2 yet....

After driving CMR2 all weekend I love the mud & gravel but the sealed roads
are crap, arcade all over on the sealed roads.  What a pity  never did like
sealed road rally's.  It wrecked  my good thought's on this game!!!!
IMHO of course!!!!!!!!!!!
