ICR2 joystick sensitivity questions

by Bret » Tue, 16 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I use a Gravis joystick with ICR2, not the best way to drive, but what I
must live with for now. Anyway, I am interested in knowing a way (by
software, preferably) to decrease the sensitivity of the stick in the
center of its range, while increasing the sensitivity toward the extremes
of it's range. My hope is to make it a little easier to to fine movements
in the straights, while still having the turning radius I need for very
tight turns (out of pits, spin recoveries, etc.)

ICR2 has some setting called "non-linear steering", which I have selected-
this seems to be the sort of thing I want, but I need much more of it's
effect. I asked Papyrus about this issue at their website tech assistance,
but never got a reply for some reason. That was 2 weeks ago.

Reducing wheel lock gives me finer movement, but I lose too much turn
radius.

And since I'm asking questions... I've noticed that CHProducts joysticks
seem to use a different pivot design, one that looks to be more linear
across it's spread. Would I see an improvement using their flightstick?

Thanks

I use a CH mach + joystick with two firebuttons placed close together on
the base of the joystick box. It`s very precise!
