Lots of questions posted these days talk about car physics.
That let me think that some people are trying to develop their own sim.
But it must be a huge work....
Couldn't all these floks show up and merge their skills and free time
together to produce what could
be the best sim ever made.

Hi Alain,

I guess I am one of those who can't help but bore the n.g. to death with
car physics. What you suggest is actually happening, the knowledge is
shared amongst people in this group, some people do some things, some
people others, and we can compare, although coding itself is taking
place independently. Anyone who ever programmed anything will tell you,
though, that the longest part in coding is actually thinking of what to
code and how to do it, and this 'how' is shared here.

This, IMHO, is even better than if only one project was out there, as
then people would settle on one solution, implement it, and that's that.
No comparison with other solutions would be possible. It will take time
(these are mostly free time project), but something very good will
eventually come out of these projects,.

I admit I don't always have time to read through all those threads, but
I certainly don't find them boring either. Keep it up.

no ...Gregor....the topics are facinating...really....reminds me of my
youthful days when watching the stoplight change to red was the most
e***ment we got in our sleepy little town...:)

Indeed, that's the main thing. And most of us have their own goals.
Lots of them do it for money, so are not willing to participate in
something open. Besides, we all have our own styles, our own priority
lists and all that. It's better to have 1000 being-developed sims than
1 should-be-WSC-squared sim. It's nicer. No single sim can make all
racesim fanatics happy. It's always too arcady, or too simmy, or the
wrong era... Diversity is important for creativity to continue.
