Need help with F1RS control setup

by David Mocn » Wed, 13 May 1998 04:00:00

Hello F1RS fans,
I amd running F1RS with the latest patch (v1.09) and also the patch to remove
the "dead zone" that DirectX (and Win95) impose on you. I have this now set on
1% instead of 5. Also I'm using the T2 wheel that I've been using for years.
The Steering is perfect, but I cannot get the padals to feel progressive and
linear. To me they feel very digital (on/off) and I cannot get the
linear "feeling" in the pedals in order to drive the car well (I've had the
game since December so I had plenty of practice). My wheel is properly
calibrated in Windows (I do so frequently) and I get the feeling I'm after in
GPL or ICR2 so it is not my controller. I am interested to hear what kind of
sensitivity settings for the controller do you have in order to get the
progressive/linear" feel that I'm talking about. At the moment I have the
throttle at about 85% and the breake at about 90% but that doesn't do the
trick for me :-(
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated 'cos I love this seem I just
don't feel like I can balance the car with the throttle and break.
Thanks for your help,
David Mocnay

I'm having the exact same problem.  I know the T2 is fine because all my
other games (both win95/DOS) the pedals are fine.

Any hints?

Get rid of the DirectX patch and it re-install and all will be fine--for
F1RS.  Too bad for the other ***games that are so poorly designed they
need the patch.

Thanks for the tip, but the DirectX patch improves the steering; I am able to
catch slides that I was never before. It's just the throttle that feels
non-linear... though this has been the case even before the DirectX patch.
It's just that before I wasn't 100% happy with the steering either. Now I am,
but bot the padals. I'm hoping someone out there can tell me theys sensitinity
settings that work for them.
By the way, I have re-installed F1RS or re-built my machine at lest once every
2 moths (yeah... that's 3 times in the last 6 months). I would just like to
have the progressiveness, sensitivity and "feeling" of the pedals ithat I have
in ICR2. Is that possible... or am I asking too much?
Thnaks for your help,
David Mocnay
