Need help with CART PR control setup (CH pedals)

by Patrick Dal » Tue, 25 Aug 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

I'm trying to setup my CH racing wheel and CH pro pedals with gas and brake
on separate axis for CPR.  It works fine with GP2, F1RS, and GPL, but not
with CPR.  The CPR readme says to set it up as a Thrustmaster T1/T2 with
the CH pedals in "plane" mode.  I tried it with no luck.  Has anyone had
success
setting up with CH pro pedals?
Thanks in advance for the help.
best regards,

Patrick

If I remember correctly, this problem came up at the APEX site enough times
so that if you post your problem on it's message board, you should get an
answer fairly quickly. http://cart.gamestats.com/

I don't expect to see any answers to your question here.  I, too, have the
CH racing wheels and CH pro pedals and can not get them configured to work
with the CPR demo following the advise of the readme.  I have also tried a
number of other controller configurations (e.g. 3 axis, 2 button) to no
avail.  As much as I like CART racing, this keeps me from running out and
buying CPR!

You'd think that the CH wheel/pedals combo is quite common and that
Microsoft would have ensured that they would work in this game.

Go figure!

If you do find an answer (or somebody out there has the answer) PLEEEEASE
POST a reply.

Thanks,

Steve

Hey Patrick,

I have the CH wheel and it works fine. I have it setup using yhe instructions
that came with the wheel. I set it up in windows as a custom controller using
the instructions. You must make sure the switch on the wheel is set for wheel
only to calibrate then switch back. If you have more trouble E=Mail you and
I'll send you my settings

Anyone who owns a set of CH Pedals knows exactly how great these things are.

I have tried all sorts of Wheel/Pedal systems T1, T2, Nascar Pro, CH Racing
system
etc. and none of these pieces of ***holds a candle to the original CH Pedals
or Pro
Pedals. The design is simply brilliant and they are built like a brick shed. I
have had
mine for years (Millions of sim racing miles). Nowadays, I refuse to buy a
racing
software title unless it comes with support for 4 axis controllers (Joy A and
Joy B).

All of the serious racing titles provide support for REAL CONTROLLERS like the
CH pedals. Examples are all Papyrus titles (ICR1, ICR2, N2, GP Legends, GP2,
F1RS etc. Those that do not, are not worth having.

All of the Microsoft products fall into this category as does ***produced by
Bizarre Creations (F197) and Sega. It is amazing that Microsoft has not woken
up, given the level of complaints about weak controller support. This shows that

they really are arrogant and listen like a corpse.

On the other hand, maybe it has something to do with the fact that CH is
Microsofts
largest Joystick competitor and that their CH Pedals are completely awesome.
We all know what happened to copies of Lotus 123 under Win95, and we all
know some poor basket who nuked Win95 trying to get rid of Explorer 4.X

Myself, I think the inmates are running the asylum over there and that our
friend
Binky Gates isn't really masterminding any of this at all !!

Sure glad I didn't buy the game!
