AWE32 and Nascar

by Skot » Sat, 17 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I am having trouble getting Nascar and many of my dos games configured
for my Sound Blaster AWE 32 card. All my settings are default settings
on the card, and it seems to check out fine in the diagnostic utility.
But when I set up the sound card in Nascar setup, it automatically
detects my card fine, but the midi playback cannot be heard. Even
maually setting the port does not help. It plays the sound but I dont
hear it. The sound effects work in Nascar but not the music, as is the
problem I am having with most of my dos games.

If anyone has their SBAWE32 card configured properly for Nascar,
please mail me and tell me how you did it. The setting strings you use
in your autoexec.bat and config.sys system files for your sound card
would be greatly appreciated too.

Thanks,
Skotty

Skotty-

I have my PnP AWE setup as 220,5,1,5,620. For the SFX in NASCAR, I use
SB16 at 220,5,1. FOr the MIDI I use AWE32 at port 620. Works fine,  no
problems. You do not need any drivers in the CONFIG.SYS, and only the
SET BLASTER line needs to match what you car is setup for. This would
be the same as what DIAGNOSE.EXE tests the card at.

Good Luck

AWE32 and Nascar

In the past (well, till some days ago :P ) when I only had 8mb of memory I
started up WITHOUT any config.sys or autoexec.bat, to get the most available
memory for Nascar for the best performance. I recall that I set up my AWE32 as
an AWE32 in the setup program from Nascar and it worked.
Try that, and if it still doesn't give you music e-mail me and I'll check it
out at my home again.
