Actually, I used it on a Live for several years, and am now using it on an
Audigy with just as good success.

Well, you must have gotten lucky.  Do you run F1 2001?  I've heard of the same
combination causing problems, from several different people.  SBLive+TSW+F1
2001 = unplayable.  Swap any one of those components, and it works fine.

I ran F12001 on a Live and TSW with no issues, doing the same now with an
Audigy.

Eldred,

No, haven't tried F2001 so I can't say.  But I've never had a problem in any
other sim, well... Split axis wouldn't work during beta testing of Motor
City Online, but other than that no problems at all.  Didn't Tom Pabst post
something about the loading of "something" in Win98SE that can lead to
problems with Live cards and the gameport?  Sorry I can't be specific but I
truly forget what it was.

I'm pretty sure I read that in one of his "tips" posts before.

It seems to be a combination of things that occurs just often enough that I've
heard of 3 or 4 people with problems.  It's probably such a small percentage of
sales that they don't worry about it?  I can't get mine to work with MTBR in
split-axis mode - has anyone else gotten it to work?  If so, how did you
configure it?  It worked just FINE with the demo, but not in the retail game.
Grrr...

Don, did you use split axis mode? the tsw2 works with f1 2001
only in combined (read "degraded" ;-) axis mode.

cheers,

No, I don't have the split axis setup yet.

Depends on your game port.  Mine works in split-axis in F1 2001, with a PDPI.
We gotta get yours working...  I'm sure it can be done.

If F1-2001 is similar in joystick setup to F1-2000,
it can be done.  I got my TSW(mod) with split axis
working in F1-2000 through fiddling with DXTweak.exe
to get the accel/brake axis set up to the games liking
and holding one/both pedals down while the game
started so the game could actually see both axis.

Hi dirt...Is your tsw plugged into the game port or a game card?

It's plugged into a PDIP-L4 game card.  If I recall correctly,
the TSW uses only half the pot's axis.  Say, 50-100 of a full
range of 1-100.  I had to manually adjust the start increment
on the axis to 50 using DXTweak.exe because F1-2000 saw the
full 1-100 range, not the calibrated 50-100 range.  I believe
I did that on both the accelerator axis and the brake axis.
If you don't use DXTweak.exe than the game won't register any
input until you hit the 50 mark, which would be half way through
the range of motion and make the pedal an on-off switch.  To
get F1-2000 to see the separate brake axis I had to hold the
brake (and possibly the accelerator) down BEFORE I started the
game and through the startup until the game was fully stared.
Can't remember if I had to hold them until I got to the calib.
screen, though.
