NROS Ranking Question?

by Chevy0 » Wed, 26 Nov 1997 04:00:00

I just started racing on NROS.  So I don't have the lap time that everyone else
has.  But the
ranking screen shows my 3 top 5's,  4 top 10's, and 1 pole.  When I look at the
RACE column,
it states zero.  Now I been in about 10 races so far, so shouldn't this column
say 10?  My other
question is, how many races do I have to run in before my skill level goes up?
I'm still at 0.

One more thing.  If you ever see Chevy096 in a race, rest assured that I am a
serious racer.  If you
are faster than me, I'll move over.  If I am a lap down, I'll get out of the
way of the leaders.  Just
because my skill is 0, I am a considerate and decent racer.

NROS Ranking Question?

Chevy,

Your skill level is based on  the skill levels of those who you beat
in a race, not the number of races you run. I'm not clear myself on
the other questions though. It's nice to see  new people in the ***
racing community with race ettiquette.

There are a lot more courteous drivers than you might initially think.
To find them, drive in longer races.  I typically don't look at anything
less than 10-15%, depending on the track.

For instance, Sears Point should be referred to as Sears Pointless if the
race length is set to anything less than 15% (or if yellows are on at
all).  Dega races are much better when they're 20% or longer.

It's plain and simple - those more serious about this will almost always
select the longer (and more difficult) races, and you'll get much better
personalities on the track with you.

NROS Ranking Question?

by David R. Ericso » Wed, 26 Nov 1997 04:00:00

Hey Chevy096,

It seems the RACE column is really your skill level repeated in that column.  I
don't know why... but it is.  That # has followed my skill level to where it is
now.

I've heard you have to run 10 races at a track to have your skill level go up on
that track.  However, I don't think that's entirely true.  I believe if you place
ahead of equal to better skilled drivers and not behind equal to lesser skill
drivers then your skill should go up (i.e. Place in the top 5 in a race with 10+
people and your skill should move up from a 0).  Also, incidents (a.k.a accidents)
count against you... even if they're not your fault.  Watch for warping cars and
stay away from them.  I've found that steering clear of accidents is the best way
to get a higher place...

I'll look for ya on TEN!

NROS Ranking Question?

by Brad Morg » Tue, 02 Dec 1997 04:00:00

This is a bug in the ratings software.  The RACE column is a copy of
the SKILL column.

I've heard that this will be fixed very soon now.
