Papy, make something like the N3 mirrors- minus the rear view, and just have
it levitate at the top of the screen in GPL.  Wouldn't that be sweet?  We
could actually have some peripheral vision.  Wouldn't be entirely realistic,
of course, but then neither is driving with blinders on and pressing buttons
to look right and left.

Just my humble suggestion.  Thanks for listening.

Actually the look left/right on buttons is far more realistic.  Think about
it...in a 67 GP car you didnt have periphal vision aside from what you saw with
your own two eyes (the mirros looked straight back for the most part).  Same
thing in GPL...you look left or right by pressing a button.  Yea being able to
just see whats there would be easier...but this is all about realism and this
is as realistic as it gets right now.

You must be some sort of android with zoom lenses for eyes and a
semiautomatic pushbutton neck.

No, just someone who prefers realism. Just like the real deal, you need to
"feel" the other car.

Bah!  That's nonsense.  In real life you can see things out of the corners
of your eyes.  I think it would enhance the realism to have something that
simulates that.  There should be a blind spot, but not nearly as big as in
GPL, or any other open***pit sim to date.

What would have been nice would be if the look left/right was analogue,
so that you could look part left/right.  I would then map this to the
twist control on my joystick so that as I was driving -
accelerating/braking/steering left/right - I could also twist the
joystick left/right to have a look at the same time - marvelous!! :-)
