Am I missing something?

I can not get GP4 to work with the Logitech wingman force feedback (USB) at
all.

First, if I have more than one joystick attached it provides no way to
select which one to use.

Then when I unhook all other joysticks except my Logitech wheel and set the
pedals to separate axis, it ignores the break pedal, all others calibrate
ok.

Finally, setting pedals to the same axis and it ignores both break and
accelerator.

The wheel works great in all other games - NASCAR 2002, F1-2002.

I originally had Sept 2001 drivers, I just tried current, June 2002 - no
difference.

Is there some magical command line switch or something?

I have always found that when switching between games that use the same axis
for pedal/brake and those that can use split axes, that this change has to
be made in both the Game Controllers box, and the Logitech Profiler. Not
what it says in the helpfiles, but in my case at least, a requirement for
things to work as they should!!

I believe you have to go right into the advanced controller setup in the
game. The entire controller setup area is poorly done, the manual is no help
and even though you can set up controller A and B in the menu, it won't see
them in a race. The controller and video detection in this game are both
poorly done. I'm using Win98 and don't know if the same problems occur in
W2k or XP, but the it should never have been released in this state.

I don't have the game in front of me right now, but I think it goes like
this:
Options/Controls/Advanced. Choose wheel, custom and click a "not used"
button. Set up your wheel from there and save it.

If this doesn't help, post again and I'll look it up when I get home
tonight.

Welcome to the club :-(

The manual/notes state it should be ID # 1. Don't know exactly what
this means as there is no ID associated to the controllers. Maybe it
means it should be the first on the list...

This is what I ended up doing.

Only the break? Lucky you. With me it ignored the pedals all together.
I ended up re-installing the whole stuff and now it sort of works.

As someone else already mentioned, create a new setup and go to the
Advanced setup. You might be lucky. As a last try, remove the GP4
directory and re-install from scratch.

Did you install any patch, maybe the protected patch? I did. I had to
repeat the whole remove-and-install procedure...

Good luck,

I feel both of your pain.  I got my LWFF to work in GP4, but now the pedals
send the menu cycling through the options.  It is quite difficult to select
something.  I got my wheel/pedals working before the patch.  I have never
been able to set them up again, but I can load the setup I created then and
all works well with the pedals set to different axis.  If you want me to
email you the controller setup let me know.
