Hello,

is it possible to use the Logitech FF Wheel with Grand Prix 2?
... because it's using a serial or USB connection instead of a classical
gameport-joystick connection.

Thanks.
Gino.

Yes it is possible to use the LWFF with GP2. I use the USB port myself.

I spoke with someone at Act Labs today about this very issue except with
their Force RS wheel.  The person I spoke to said their force feedback wheel
was unusable with any DOS based game.  Their wheel has a serial and USB
connection just l like the Logitech.  If it is true for Act Labs, it
probably is true for Logitech.  Though, I would like to hear others opinions
on the issue.

Don:

That's great to hear but I have a couple questions for you:

Are you forced to have Windows running in the background or can you boot GP2
straight from DOS?

If you are booting from DOS, say from your A drive, what files or drivers
are part of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file so your USB is recognized?

Again, if you are booting from DOS, any files in your AUTOEXEC.BAT which are
specific to the wheel?

Is there anything you have to do to "trick" GP2 that your wheel is attached
to the gameport when it is not?

Thanks - Stuart

Gino:

You may already know this but just to be safe:

For your USB port to work you must be running Win98 or Sevice Release 2.1 or
2.5 of Win95.  If your running Win95 and unsure about which SR you are
running, E-mail me and help you figure it out.  Also, I have a copy of SR
2.1 which I can E-mail you if necessary.  My understanding is that all SR2.1
does is give you USB support and that's it.  The file size is less than 1MB.

I realized after I posted that I should have indicated that I do have to run
GP2 from Win98 to use my LWFF. Unfortunetly, I can't say the same about
Nascar2, but GPL keeps me very busy these days and N3 will be here soon enough
:-)
