The only way you can get the Indianapolis track is if you or your
friend have Papyrus' "Indy Car Racing I" and the ICR1 "track pack"
produced for this game. The track pack includes the fabled "Brickyard"
track.
There is a freeware utility that can convert the Indianapolis track
from ICR1+track pack for use with NASCAR *and* IndyCar
2. (you can also get converters that convert NASCAR tracks for ICR2
use and ICR2 tracks for NASCAR) You can find the utilities and a lot
of helpful information via this link:
http://www.racesimcentral.net/
The utils were created by Gerhard Ligenberg and they work like a
charm.
However, if you don't have ICR1, then your friend's outta luck. The
track pack for ICR1 has since been pulled fom release, (Papyrus'
disputes with Indianapolis) and finding them in the states
is quite rare. I've heard that European software
distributors/mail-order can find it for you.
Technically, it is still copyrighted software. And if you find it on
the NET, it's certainly illegal. Most of major racing fanpages will
not carry the file with their pages becuase of the copyright issue.
And to my knowledge, few of the racing leagues/ladders actually use in
in competition. Good luck finding it!
