Sorry for asking this question again guys.
I have been running renddma (Intergraph Reactor, btw) from DOS mode just
fine (well, with the colored screen confetti during startup, but
otherwise OK). I recently bought and upgraded another computer and
installed an ethernet network under win95. This too seems to work great
with TCP/IP, IPX. etc. protocols.
I obviously want to run N2 across the network (why else would I have
installed it, right?). I would like to run N2 under win95 since my IPX
protocol is running under win95. Also, I'm tired of waiting on the
reboot when I exit N2.
No dice!
I have tried every memory setting I can imagine in the pif. I can get
N2 to load, but when I click on the PRACTICE button in the race screen,
I get the engine sound, but it sounds a little strange (it sounds like a
wave file repeating quickly but not very smoothly). The in-car screen
doesn't come up. The screen is locked up with race screen still up and
the PRACTICE button highlighted. The computer is locked up at this
point.
Last night I got the in-car screen OK in multiplayer network mode but
the car was spinning the tires at the pit wall and my T2 didn't have any
effect. In regular single player mode I get the lock up as stated
above. The system also locks if I try to go to the options screen from
the main menu. Oddly, I can go to the options screen from the race
screen and calibrate my T2 just fine.
I also tried turning off the radio buttons oin the screen settings in
the pif. No change.
I haven't upgraded my video bios or drivers in a while. I am running
the second N2 patch, v1.02 or v1.03, I can't remember which. I started
with v1.00 and ran 2 patches.
I am running a 100mhz Intel Pentium on an Ocean Rhino 9 motherboard (HX
chipset) with 32 meg ram (non-edo).
I would really like for someone with a similar system successfully
running N2 under win95 to send me all the pif settings they use.
I am at my wits end. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!
