Am I the only one who didn't know, but just discovered, that when pushing
the [o]-button when driving your spotter starts telling you your laptimes?!

This is really cool, but probably old news that I somehow missed.

Is it documented in the US-manual? My crappy UK-one only has 98 pages, so
maybe they left it out...

It is documented on the command summary card that ships with the game.

I think it's in the US manual. You might want to check out the NASCAR 2
FAQ, it includes a few other hidden features:

It's documented on the reference card that shows all of the keyboard
commands.  Don't feel bad, I didn't realize you could use ctrl-r to restart
a race without exiting out and restarting the race weekend.  Apparently, it
works with ICR2 also.  Oh well, at least I know now....

Also, after 'F2' to see current standings, while on screen, press
'return' it gives real time position and times of your car relative to
the field. It updates at the start/finish every lap, and if a lap down
(I think) name is in RED. very cool

Not only by hitting the "O" key will the spotter give you lap times, BUT if
you hit Alt + O he'll give it to you on Each and Every lap just after
you've crossed the Start/Finish line each time!
Then again, hitting the "L" or alternatively,  Alt + L you'll be notified
When the race Leader Crosses the Start/Finsih line!
Ain't Technology Wonderbar?

One I only found out by accident - press "shift" whilst F2 is on & it
will show the other view for just as long as the key is pressed. Also
provides the easiest way to get back to your own position if you've
scrolled up or down the positions.

Cheers,
Richard

Sadly, the UK-version of NASCAR 2 doesn't ship with a reference card...
But oh well, I can live without that!

B.t.w. I don't feel bad, but thanks for caring anyway! :)

PMFJI Joeri,  I can scan in and e-mail you a copy of the reference card if
you'd like.  Let me know via e-mail.
