I guess I'm going to be hooked on another driving sim. I decided I'd just
jump right into the GP Lotus, and remembered what John said about using the
throttle to steer through corners. It isn't quite as hard as I expected, but
still extremely challenging. I'm guessing that this track is one of the
easier ones and for that reason was chosen for the demo, so even tougher
times lie ahead. I was able to do a 1'21" by about the 10th lap and am
closing in on a 1'10". The drivers who drove the real cars must of been very
brave men if the handling and track conditions in this sim are accurately
depicted.
One thing I noticed, if I change the "number of sounds" option upward, I get
no engine sound on the track. I did a re-install before realizing what the
problem was.
Internet racing should be a blast!
I enjoy this sim mostly because of the chance to get an idea of what it
would be like to drive cars from an earlier era in racing, the year I was
born actually. It must be really exciting for some of you, uh, slightly more
mature fellas, :-) who were fans and maybe even raced real cars at this
time.
All in all, great work!
