I was just trying to open Nascar 4 and GPL and they both freeze on the
splash screen and freeze the computer which then requires a hard boot. They
were both working on the weekend. I uninstalled and reinstalled both, but
the same problem occurs.

Did anyone else experience this same problem, if so I'd really like to know
if there is a solution. The only other thing I can think of is to re-format
my hard drive which I obviously don't really want to do. Thanks.

Are you running a patch? check out the readme file...if yer patched it would
be the readme12 file...i think it mentions in the core.ini file there is
somewhere you can turn off the splash screen...try your n4config and let it
recognize your video card again...i have great luck with 1600X1200 16bit
using my geforce2 64 running opengl...i am assuming you have the cd
in...hope this helps

Nope that didn't work. I even did the reformat and after working once it is
freezing again. I'm beggining to think it is likely a DirectX8.0a issue. I
reinstalled my video drivers and DirectX with no luck either. I'm not using
anything unusual, GeForce MX 2 on a Genuin Intel Motherboard P4 1.5 GHz 512
RAM with USB Microsoft SideWinder Forcefeedback Wheel. Nascar3 works fine.
Nascar4 refuses to work.
