Papyrus: Thank you for ICR2WIN patch

As one of the most strident voices regarding the handling of this
"upgrade" by Sierra On-Line/Papyrus, let me be one of the first to
say thanks.  While I am not happy that we were not kept informed that
things were still in the "hopper" about this release, I am glad that
Papyrus/Sierra On-Line did the right thing and released this
patch/upgrade as promised.  However, I can understand Ed's (and others)
hesitancy to post anything about it.  I still think it would have been
"kinder" to let us know that there were plans to carry through with this
upgrade.

I haven't actually made the upgrade yet.  For the time being it only
appears to be available via CompuServe and AOL.  I am sure that Sierra
will have it up on their web/ftp site soon.  I don't have the space to
put it on my own ftp site, but have forwarded it to wuarchive.wustl.edu
Hopefully they will release it in a day or so.  Look for icr2win.zip in
the /pub/MSDOS_UPLOADS/games directory in case Sierra is slow on getting
it on their web/ftp site.

Papyrus: Thank you for ICR2WIN patch

I grabbed it yesterday from Compuserve and although I was impressed
by the menu system and the performance (I have a PP200 and a Matrox),
the converted Nascar and Indy tracks don't work. They show up in some
funky colors :-(
Looks I'll be playing the DOS version for some time to come. The menu
system is a God send though. Also, the replay viewer is great. Overall
a very slick product showing that win95 will be a great ***
platform in the near future (I am judging this on having played NFSSE
and a few other Directx games). I seem to have a 2fps hit from Win95
to the DOS version(28 vs. 30). The Win95 version seems to have higher
overall frame rates. In the DOS version the game doesn't seem to
support more than 30 fps. In the win95 version it sometimes hits 45
when there is no activity.

P.S. If you can afford the not having to play the Nascar tracks, this
is definitely a wothwhile and welcome upgrade.

Is it better than the first W95 ICR2 game?  That was just ***on a
P166/Matrox system.  Also, does it fix the yellow flag bug?
