I have only run GPL (full version) with Win98 and have had no problems at all.
Solid 36 fps while on the track with a PII 400 and a Pure 3D card. I'll be
moving up to a Pure 3DII after the holidays for the higher resolution and more
consistant framerate afforded by the voodoo II cards.

Hope this helps,

Dont expect GPL to work after you install Win98 over Win95. Must reinstall
it.

Tony,

You may be thinking about the GPL demo, which was not compatible with
Win98, but the final version definitely is. I have had no problems
whatsoever with my Win98 machine and GPL.

Someone else mentioned this, but you should consider formatting your
hard drive and installing 98 from scratch if you haven't already. I
have seen a lot of problems with people installing 98 over 95 -- not
just with GPL or other games but with many applications. It is best to
install it clean if you can.

Thanks Todd, that was my plan. Format and start from scratch.

Much appreciated.

Win98 and GPL works for me although you might need to reinstall the game
after the 'uprade'. Personally, I'd go for a clean install of Win98 (and
you CAN do a clean install on a formatted HD with the Win98 'Upgrade
Version' as long as you have your original Win95 CD or Win95 Companion
CD to put in CDROM drive when it asks to see earlier MS OS.).

Just don't forget to make a startup disk with CDROM drivers!!!!

Same here, no problems with Win98 at all.  Celeron 300A at 450 on a BH6
w/128MB Samsung -GH memory, Monster 2 SLI + Thriller 8MB AGP.

I hate to admit it, but I kinda like Win98.  Of course, I'm using the
old style desktop and Netscape to avoid as much of Micro$oft's influence
as possible.

I'm having some problems with GPL on my Win98 station ( 450Mhz, 256 RAM,
14.5 GB, 12MB v2 SLI mode ). I'm not sure tough if it's a win problem or a
driver issue. The graphics "glitches" or "jumps" regularly, but without
crashing. Other than that I think Win98 is a fairly Ok OS.

Carl

Tony,

    I recently installed Win98 right over Win95,and I've hadn't any
problems. But from what I've heard,I'm one of the lucky ones. I would
recommend backing up any needed files, then reformat your hard drive as Tony
suggested.  As for problems with gpl running under Win98,I haven't had any
problems. It runs great.  Whatever problems I've had,is strickly my lousy
driving.

    Hppy holidays.
