TSW owners, I have a question before ordering.

by SimRace » Sat, 24 Mar 2001 02:51:17

I currently use a LWFF and for some time have disabled the FF due to its
unpredictable responses sometimes in the heat of battle. Since I have
shunned FF after using it for over a year, I have decided to get the
American made wheel, I never really cared for all the plastic or the overall
feel of the Logitech anyway.

So I've decided that the TSW2 Cup is what I'm looking for, I do like the
paddle style shifters but may go with the Stock TSW2 Cup and change the
wheel later if going back to the knob is too wierd for me. (My first wheel
was an old trusty Thrusty T2)

My question: I currently have the pedals on my LWFF setup on dual axis and
really like the feel of that setup and have found that the TSW does not
offer this capability (according to their site). Does anyone feel that a
single axis brake/gas setup is really a disadvantage, advantage or what? I
really think I can tell a difference when driving since going to dual axis,
but it may just be me and not technically any better.

Also, I love the Wingman Commander App and it's ability to map all the
buttons and stuff. My question is how to you assign functions to the 2
buttons on the TSW? Are you locked into using it for non race related
functions that I use now (Have most all F keys assigned to the LWFF buttons
using one as a SHIFT key)

Thanks for any insight,

edb

PS: I primarily only race with the Papyrus line of games, currently NASCAR
Racing 4.

Sorry, just revisited their site and found that there is an upgrade (as
always) to the single or dual axis setup for $15.

Still unsure about the button assignments though.

Nope, you can't do any button assignment - apart from what you can do within
the game. Maybe there's a piece of software somewhere that can do it? Dunno.

The RBJoy utility allows you to assign key actions to the buttons of any
controller.  I use it with my Act Labs Force RS.

I can't help you with the TSW questions, but do you intent to sell on
your LWFF? I'm interested if you are.

I am considering it, let me see about how soon TSW can get a wheel built and
to me.

You can reach me at http://www.southeasternracing.com
from the contacts page (H.Beasley),and remind me you're interested in about
a week and I should be able to tell you something definitive then.

...And that upgrade is well worth it.  I ordered it along with my TSW, and it
was extremely easy to install.

You can get dual axis, and also a clutch pedal (great for GPL!).

You can certainly use the buttons for look left/right in GPL, as the game
allows you to assign buttons to any function.  Not sure about other games
though.

The wheel is fantastic BTW - I got a LWFF as well, and never use it (the
wheel is not as good as the TSW, but not too bad, but the pedals are awful
compared to the TSW).

I recently got my TSW2mod and it works with Split Axis just fine. I
also ordered the single axis adapter kit, but haven't used it at all
so far.

no idea.... you set the wheel up as a generic 3 axis controller, so I
guess you might be out of luck depending on which customization
function your games offer.

The TSW2 really is a nice product, as is the TSWmod.

uwe
