f1cs2000 dead-zone (again?)

I just read an old thread (Dec.2000) about the dead zone problem in this
title (change a setting in a .PLR-file or something). When dead-zone set to
zero, the program writes it back to 0.20 or something. Has there been a
solution to this? A proper fix? F1cs2000 sits on my desk because of this
(it's very annoying having to pull the wheel half-way until anything
happens/even worse coming back into GPL after some time with it).
I can't even find the title (or some support from them) on the EA-site. Call
me stupid, but I couldn't find anything at all. What a dull site. Maybe I
was at the wrong place, but they should have some clues in there for me...

(And yes, I'm also using the Dx-tweaks from logitech? to set dead-zone to as
little as possible in DX8.)

Thanks for any pointers or info...

The only "permanent" fix i can think of is to advoid the steering
options menu as the plague. The 0.20 value is only written back when
exiting that menu. So find your preferred settings and don't even
enter that menu anymore. :)

That is all I know too.  Setup your wheel, choose your FF options, get
your graphics figured out...and THEN go and edit the file to0.00.  Then stay
away from any of the options pages.  If you do go back to change wheels,
etc, then make sure you re-edit the file bakk to 0.00
