This statement ruined the whole thing for me "the player's car performance
matches the most competitive team".  My favorite feature of F1RS, MGPRS2,
and GPL is the fact that different cars behave differently.  I even went on
a crusade with F1RS trying to win a championship with a Forti (I didn't
quite make it, but it's possible).  Now with MGPRS2 I struggle to even score
points with the Sauber except at France where for some reason I'm absolutely
*** even in a Tyrell.  I love modern F1 racing sims and I can't say
that I absolutely will not buy this one (I already have F1GP and GP2) but I
might just decide to skip it because, as I found with the previous two
titles, once I can dominate the AI I lose interest quickly.  I want a fight,
a race, not a learning curve and then complete annihilation.

While it didn't ruin it for me, I second the sentiment.  I really
appreciate the different performance levels of the cars that the player
gets to drive.  Hopefully, we'll see editors for GP3 allowing this.

There was an option in the add-ons that allowed you to choose if you
wanted the default preformance or team related preformace - for GP2
that is.

If the addo-n guys can give you the choice then surely the actualy
programmers can also - and should too.

I second that also (or is that third that?).  This option really isn't
that difficult to put in.  The cars' performance is already built into
the AI drivers.  Surely it is a simple process to allow the human
drivers the choice of whether they would like that option.

I remember on the original GP on my Atari that to get performance
related to the car, and not whether I was a human driver, involved a
simple process of changing a couple of hex numbers in the program that
allowed the routine that did this check to be bypassed and which
therefore guaranteed car performance based on spec.

Now if I could do it this easily on GP1 without the original code then
surely Crammond and co could do it with GP3.

Just in case you weren't aware of it: the GP2Edit editor allows you to make
exactly this modification to GP2.

So surely Crammond CAN do it. But I doubt it, really... GP3 will most probably
be exactly the same as GP2 in terms of how the entire game is designed (since
GP2 was the same as F1GP in that respect)

I think we should simply accept this. Crammond is a bit of a "I do it my way"
guy. That's what makes his sims so good, but it also means that he doesn't
implement every little titbit that people could want.

      That's the advantage of online racing. You're never going to dominate.

Yes, but when you have a house in the sticks on-line racing isn't an option
because you are too far from the telco CO to get a decent connection.
26,400 at best, no ADSL, no cable modem, ISDN only if I want to pay for the
circuit and the repeater necessary to get it up here, but the house is nice.
