ever since my buddy switched from Norton to McAfee we have been having
problem in Multiplayer races.
He keeps getting dropped and says cars are jumping bad.
We never had problems till he switch to McAfee?

Anyone else use McAfee and Do multiplayer without problems?

Could it just be the "patched version" that has problems with it?  We both
have 2mb cable connections

Thanks

No problems here. Is he disabling McAfee when he goes online to race?

I am using McAfee on a cable connection.  I do not get 2MB or even close (
damn comcast for overselling ).  I don't have trouble as long as I know not
to try and play during peak usage.  Even then it is just jumpy cars.  Do not
get drops except on the rare occasion and is usually because I tried to
connect to a server with a high ping.
Is he on xp?  has he disabled the xp firewall?  also make sure he has
allowed NR2k3 full access in the control panel.
I do not disable my firewall for gameplay.

One other thought, has he fully removed Norton?  These two programs do not
like each other.
Check the registry.

XP Firewall should not be a problem. I've raced with no problem through it
on both dial-up and cable connections. Actually, when racing with XP on a
dial-up, XP Firewall kept *** ad spam pop ups from interrupting my
sessions and my pings or quality never suffered that I noticed.

Agreed, but with another firewall is not neccesarry and could cause issues.
Just something to check.
I did notice an improvement with it disabled and using McAfee, not much but
like I said, something to check.

I agree, if they're having issues they should look into the settings if
using XP's FW. I sometimes forget that everything that works for me doesn't
necessarily work for everyone else.

In my history, McAfee was a bigger bug, than what I was trying to defend
myself from...

fresh install os, if your messing with NAV or MacAfee, much like the vid
(NVIDIA, vs. ATI cards), they leave too much ***in registry and system
files when you remove them, IMHO.  Your Mileage may have varied...
