I remember playing the Alpine course to death :) The Ferrari was fastest
for stage 1, the Viper for stage 2, and the Supra for stage 3. Best
total time was something like 9m 11s if I recall correctly. Back then
I didn't have a wheel for the computer so I had to use *gasp* a
joystick!!!

Whip me with a wet noodle, but I'd like to see Papyrus do a quality Stadium
Truck Racing Sim...

Based on the GPL Engine, of course :)

I'd also like to see Nascar Legends re-done with the N4 Engine.

Well, hell.  Might as well do a modern-day F1 Sim while they are at it!

Here's a wild idea.  Monster Truck Madness - Papy Style!!!  Now THAT would
stress the GPL Engine :)

Alpine was really fantastic. Probably my best computer-driving memories!!
The coastal road wasn't so bad either. :-)
And I was using the keyboard!! :-p
I really don't understand how EA could botch up the following NFS games...
:-( A shame really.

"Is there any type of racing/driving game that hasn't been made yet? I tried
to think of one, but it's hard."

What about Lawnmower racing, It was on the telly a while ago and that looked
fun

3.5hp sidevalve  briggs and stratton, belt driving the gearbox, aluminium
rollers, and big field

A decent simulation of Aussie V8 Supercars would be
nice.  There have been attempts but still the best sim for
these cars is still modified nascar 3.

This is more for the tracks than the cars - Bathurst, Oran
Park and Hidden Valley would be great sim tracks.  Plus
some of our 1967 heroes raced on Aussie circuits during
the Tasman series.  I have a framed photo reprint of Jim
Clark accelerating down the back straight at Sanddown
International Raceway - about 15 minutes from here.

Rallycross? I suppose the powers that be think that superspecial rally
stages are more or less the same thing. Oh well...

Hillclimbing! Woohoo! You hear that, games companies? A guaranteed fan
base of two! Come on, it has to be more than for NASCAR 32647 ;-)

We *sort of* have those already - Viper Racing, NFS:P2000 and the
support races in TOCA 2.

to? ;-)

Bathurst is great in GPL... except if you're trying to get to the first
corner!

/me wants a hillclimb sim! All you need is a rally sim with a *proper*
track editor, as a hillclimb is basically a very short, very steep
tarmac stage.

But the ***y companies refuse to include editors, even on a totally
unsupported beta basis like the various FPS ones. Even Rally Trophy
hasn't bothered - it's *PATHETIC*!

I won't go on and on here as the discussion has already been had here
last year. Here's the link to Google (yes, "David B" is me!):

Turn one is traditionally called Hell Corner for a reason :)

I've been to Bathurst about half a dozen times, twice as a
guest pit crew (woo - got to hold the lap boards :) and the
rest as a spectator.  The camber on the exit of Hell Corner
looks like Hell itself and watching cars try and brake for turn
1 in the wet is entertainment in itself.

I've only driven around post race (as a civilian) and that was
in a FWD rentamobile so I couldn't have much fun.  The dipper
is scarey even at 30kph.

FWIW - the GPL version is fantastic and clearly done by
someone who loves and understands the track.  It conveys
the lap - haul the poor car up the hill, hustle it across the top
of the mountain then fall down the other side with gentle
adjustments to try and keep off the walls.  brilliant.

Grant , I raced that Alpine course for hours at a time too. It was what got
me hooked on sim racing. I actually bought my first wheel to use with that
game. I wish the original need for speed was done over exactly ,but with
today's graphics. That would be the best ever. Hey-- they do movie remakes
why not game remakes?

> Off-shore power boats?

Interplay's Powerboat racing?

Been done. Reno Air Racing and Xtreme Air Racing.

Also been done, but not very well.

Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars

Ok, now maybe you have something. Throw in a virtual Vanina Iykx and I'll
buy it.

Seeing SODA 2 would be pretty cool. Update the graphics and physics engine.
Add different events in it such as hill climbs and have longer tracks.
The physics of SODA (2) on a World War II Online graphics/multiplayer engine
would be great for a massive multiplayer Baja.
Imagine 500 online racers lining up for a 1000mile race across Europe or
from Vegas to LA. You pick your own route and go which ever way you want.
Add real time weather with realistic break downs and that would be a great
race.
