Hi Steve,
Just wondering, are these times achieved using the standard
716 h.p.? They sure are mighty fast.

Dave,
Thanks for responding, and wow are these guys quick, but one thing I'm
also puzzled about is why is there so much emphasis placed on just the
qualifying times. I'm fairly new to Internet racing, and am surprized by the
qualifying guru's out there, having spend most of my time trying to achieve
good car set-ups that work over 100% race distances.I would like to compare
100% race distance times of others with my own. Does the hall of fame list
these times as well?
I think the ability to go consistantly fast over a full race distance is a
real test of ability and concentration, and should have the same importance
as qualifying.
                   Thanks and regards,
                                        Alan Gobien

Steve,
Thanks for the reply, I'm pretty amazed by the qualifying times, I
can get within about 2 seconds of the times, I have no idea where these guys
are finding the rest of it. I am slowly learning about all this stuff as I
have only had internet access for about 5 months now. I joined the F1wic
racing series run by Frank Merlier and am having a real blast with it. I
downloaded qualifying setups from some link off of the hall of fame to use
as a starting point, they do help a bit. My real interest lies in getting
that perfect 100% race, as my background with the game is all modem play
with my friend who is also an avid F1 nut.

                                          Regards,
                                                  Alan Gobien

Absolutely, but you have to understand where the HOF came from. I
started it primarily as an experiment to see what the limit was WRT
laptimes was (I never guessed that they'd still be improving even
now!). Back in the days of yore when the HOF was young and I was less
hassled :-) the idea of storing 100% race times was discussed at
length, but in the end I decided to leave this in the domain of online
series such as LF3000 and it's successor LFRS.

My main reason for doing so is that the race times aren't really a
very objective measure of performance. So many things can happen in a
race that are outside of the player's control (AI crashes, for
example) that it may take a truly enormous number of races before you
run that "perfect" one to set your time, and very few people, I
suspect, would be prepared to devote that sort of effort towards a
"race HOF".

This doesn't apply to LFRS and co. so much because things tend to even
out over 16 races.
