Matrox G200

My computer is a PII 450 Mhz 128 mb Ram

I have a Matrox G200 -8 mb graphic card

The fps is 10-11, max 17-18 with low level graphics

Do you know the way to resolve the problem?

Buy a G400-32 Mb ram?
Voodoo 2?
Voodoo 3?

Thanks

You can get a small performance boost by downloading the GPL drivers from
Matrox.  I have a similar setup to yours (PII 350 128 MB) and I got the G200
to improve to 24-25 fps with their drivers.  They speed up the frame rate
but***up alot of the textures.  My ultimate solution was to get a voodoo
3.  I now enjoy 36 fps everywhere on the track except the start line (26
fps).

I downloaded a file that can accelerate GPL with G200 option
That file doesn't work, the game crashes before starting
May be italian version have conflicts or my particular computer (W98 italian
or something else)

A little question: can voodoo3 be installed with the G200 as a "partner" of
the Matrox or it must be alone?

My sympathy, I had the exact same problem.Get a voodoo3.It will run with
your matrox and believe me the graphics are incredible and fr is max with
all options on.I had run GPL on a v2 with celleron 440 and 128 meg ram but
it looks a lot better now.

The V3 will run side-by-side with a G200????

I just dropped in a V2 when they got down to $50 after rebate at the local
Fry's...

I plan on eventually getting a V3 3000 or 3500 for this PC and moving the
G200/V2 setup to the other PC (which is running a Rendition...OK in GPL,
blows everywhere else :P

No!

V3 is a stand alone card with 2D and 3D functionality.
V2 has a 'bypass' function and works with your existing G200.  V2 is 3D only.

When I got my V3 I replaced the G200 since both were AGP.  There might be a
possibility to run an AGP G200 with a PCI V3, but on my system, the V3
outperforms the G200 in 2D so its a non-issue.

I presume like me your matrox is on motherboard. In this case just stick in
your v3 and it will be fine.If your matrox is in a slot pull it out.
